The Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association (HBA) has recognized five contractors with 2019 Greater Iowa City Area Parade of Homes Builders Excellence Awards. The awards are sponsored by Mills Custom Homes and presented at an HBA-members-only breakfast May 31 at The Celebration Farm in Iowa City.
Eighteen new homes were entered in this year’s Parade of Homes. Members from other HBAs around Iowa judged the homes. Criteria included exterior, interior, livability and functionality. Winners are:
$300,000 – 399,999 Category: Cedarwood Homes for 1205 Ironwood Lane, Tiffin
$400,000 – 499,999 Category: Watts Group for 1330 E. Tartan Drive, North Liberty
$500,000 – 599,999 Category: H&H Home Builders for 1110 Cullen Drive, Tiffin
$600,000 – 699,999 Category: Mike Roberts Construction for 708 Owen Court, Tiffin
$800,000 + Category: Jim Buresh Construction Company for 3010 Forest Ridge Drive NE, Swisher
The 52nd Parade of Homes started June 1 and continues through this weekend, Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 between Noon and 5 p.m. Besides touring homes, ticket holders have the chance to speak with builders, designers, contractors, realtors and others involved in many aspects of the homebuilding industry. There will be information and examples of new technologies, the latest building materials, floor plans and home decor. Tickets good for the entirety of the parade cost $8 and can be purchased at each parade home.
Before, during and after the Parade of Homes, attendees can access home details on the Iowa City Area HBA website and through the Parade Craze App, which includes directions to each home, photos and builder information. After downloading the app, parade goers should search for 2019 Greater Iowa City Area Parade of Homes. The app also allows them to rate homes in various categories, including overall best – a new classification this year. Additionally, a comprehensive Parade of Homes Guidebook offers a fold-out map of all homes, builder details, subcontractors used and more. Articles about new-home and remodeling trends, how to choose windows, working with realtors and other topics round out the magazine. The guidebook can be found at each parade home and various businesses throughout the Iowa City metro area.
