“I feel honored to be recognized for my team’s hard work. This house had great bones and a great lot. It was well maintained by the previous owners, but I wanted to bring it to a new level,” said company owner Matt Boileau. “I like to approach every project as if I were doing the work for myself or my family. I try to add unique touches that will be meaningful for my clients. With the demand in building today, I feel craftsmanship can fall to the wayside in favor of a more production type of carpentry. I am very fortunate to have such dedicated subcontractors that share in my vision.”
Located at 4336 Oakridge Trail NE in Iowa City, the home’s exterior was redone with LP siding, new windows and stonework. A porch was installed at the front door. Kitchen updates include an island and a bump-out that allowed room for a dining banquette. In the master suite, a sizable walk-in closet was added with built-in cabinetry, and the master bath now includes a large walk-in shower and tub – again thanks to the additional space from the bump-out. Two bedrooms were renovated to offer en suite bathrooms and vaulted ceilings. The office now features custom cabinetry and paneled walls with a charming bench seat. A breezeway, with a set of lockers, a pantry and powder room, is part of the new garage. Out back, an added grill deck and patio create more entertainment space.
All four homes on this year’s Remodelers Parade – the second weekend (June 19 and 20) of the Iowa City Area HBA Parade of Homes – were judged by HBA representatives from Eastern Iowa. Criteria included exterior, interior, livability and functionality.
The 54th Iowa City Area HBA Parade of Homes and 24th Iowa City Area HBA Remodelers Parade concluded June 20, but the public may virtually tour homes – courtesy of MidAmerican Energy – through March 2022. Each listing offers photos, a video, 360-degree views and more. Take the tour at iowacityhomes.thegazette.com or through the ParadeSmart mobile app, sponsored by CBI Bank & Trust.
